Gabriola’s Moderate Wildfire Hazard Status

Normal operations are permitted but use extra caution as some areas may dry out more than others.

Activities that are permitted

  • Small campfires are allowed. 

  • The use of powered equipment is allowed.

  • Fires in 200L (55Gal)  burn barrels are allowed. 

  • Barbecues are allowed.

  • Propane fireplaces are allowed. Flames must be 6 inches or less.

  • Hibachis and similar charcoal-burning stoves are allowed.

  • Burning permits are issued for Category 2 and  3 Fires. Please contact the Fire Department if you need one.

  • Beach fires are never permitted.

  • You may not burn prohibited materials.

  • You may not cause hazards or excess smoke.
