Sometimes we need new Gabriola firefighters. Can you help? You could be the one fighting a fire, using the jaws of life to rescue somebody from a car crash, or providing initial medical aid when somebody is seriously hurt.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Can you come to training sessions on Tuesday nights?
  • Can you participate in the occasional weekend-long training session?
  • Are you be willing to get your Class 3 driver’s licence with our training and instructors?
  • Can you (with our help) learn firefighting and rescue skills? We’ll teach you everything you need to know, but there is effort involved.
  • Can you read the firefighting textbook we’ll give you, and take exams based on that content?
  • Can you respond to pages when somebody has an emergency?

If you answer yes to these questions, we’d like to talk to you! contact the Fire Chief for more details. Consider filling out an application form. Come and meet us.

(At the moment we are mostly looking for volunteers who live on the south end of Gabriola, and will respond to the South Fire Hall.)

We’ve created these pages for prospective firefighters:
